On 25 August 1975, Helmut Henninger, Emil Lamparth and Werner Giebner signed the contract for the founding of helag-electronic GmbH. The company started with 42 employees in the production of variable capacitors.
The product range and number of employees increased as the company went from one success to the next. By 1978, Grundig, BMW and Ford are amongst the most important customers. One year later, helag-electronic managed to enter the automotive supplier industry as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). In the late eighties, the company developed more and more new products for major car manufacturers, such as window winder switches for Audi, spindle potentiometers for Daimler Benz and a headphone system for BMW.
As an innovative company, geared to solving the latest market needs, helag-electronic exhibited regularly at the industrial trade fair in Hanover between 1975 and 1990 and at the Electronica in Munich from 1984 to 1994. As the firm's focus shifted more towards supplying the automotive industry, from 1994 onwards helag-electronic attended the IAA in Frankfurt as well as the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) in Wolfsburg. On top of that are the international trade fairs in Detroit, Brighton and Paris.
Increased concentration on the automotive industry proves successful: in 1997 every vehicle from Mercedes Benz and Volvo contains at least one component from helag-electronic. Products are also fitted to VW, BMW, Chrysler, Renault and Fiat vehicles, plus many more.
The completion and opening of the attractive new company premises in the Nagold industry park in Wolfsberg in 2001 sees the beginning of a new chapter in the company's history. In 2003, Birgit Lamparth takes the company over from her father Emil Lamparth. In 2004, helag-electronic is named "Entrepreneur of the Year" in Frankfurt for the third time. A delegation from the State Government of Baden-Württemberg visits the company in recognition of its success and creation of new jobs in Nagold.
In 2005, helag-electronic celebrates its 30th anniversary with a positive outlook for the future certified with currently the highest quality standard TS 16949 and as one of the 150 best suppliers to VW worldwide. The objectives of the company remain unchanged: the quality of the products, continuing to build on research and development and above all, maintain the success of a medium-sized family-owned business.
